I was highly inspired by a Boho wedding style as the setting and hair pieces all worked well with that theme.
Wedding hair is a very popular request from my clients and I like to ensure I am keeping up with what’s hot and trending.
What’s hot right now?
So, how did you get into your business?
I first started hairdressing when I was 15 years old as a “Saturday Girl” at a local hairdressing salon. It was there I found my love for all aspects of hairdressing. I was really hungry to learn more and dedicated myself to understanding all the various skills and techniques available. I like to think I’ve maintained that passion & ethos throughout my career.
I made the transition from a Saturday girl to a full time junior while starting a apprenticeship for 2 years, I then went on to doing my level 3 and follow on course to always update my skills then progresses to a stylist, in some salons I have worked in I have specialised in wedding, pins up.
I particluarly love the atmosphere of doing Wedding hair. There’s nothing more enjoyable than being part of the atmosphere on the morning of someones wedding day – the buzz of excitement, the support and love shown by family and friends and of course, that moment you “reveal” the bride! Priceless!
I’m constantly looking for ways to improve and develop the services I offer, which is imperative in this industry. Most recently I’ve attended workshops on Balayage, Colour Correction and Wedding Hair pin ups. I’m also looking to get in to teaching.
At the moment, my focus is on growing my business as a high quality mobile hairdresser. As a mother of two young children I know it’s not always possible to get to a Hair Salon, so I like to bring that luxury to you. Wedding hair is also a big focus for me – I just love the opportunity to be a bit more creative.
The easiest way to get in touch is via my Facebook and Instagram accounts – Hair by Katie. There you will see lot’s more examples of hairstyles I’ve created.

The first thing I will do is ask them about their wedding (usually over the phone) the theme, the venue, date, size of wedding party, what’s important to them and how they want to “look” on their big day. From there we can discuss styles and arrange a trial/trials.
A bit like a beautiful pin up, it looks best when a few of the tendrels have fallen out. Remember everything doesn’t need to be perfect – in fact it’s ofthen the things that don’t fully go to plan that become the most memorable parts of your day. If you accept that you will enjoy the experience even more.
Like these shots haha!
Similar to above, I think I would tell the younger me to give myself a break.
