Making Magic | Tweed Fiend

Who Is Tweed Fiend?

We talk to Jade, the creator behind all the tweed to find out about more about Tweed Fiend and how to get in touch for your wedding.

Hi Jade! So how did you get into your business?

I have always loved sewing, and wool is such a classic yet versatile material. I started out working with Tweed remnants from the textile industry and fell in love with the feel and finish. I’m inspired by vintage styles, so the two passions very naturally came together.

What do you love about what you do?

I love working with Tweed cloth; there is such a rich variety of colours, weaves and textures to work with. It’s such a joy to work with couples to create their vision of their wedding day. When it comes to finding the right colour, I’ve never been beaten yet. Designing and making an item of clothing for such a special day in someone’s life is a real privilege. I especially enjoy adding personal touches to my products so couples have a moment of the day for years to come.

If you could go back to when you first thought about setting up your business and give yourself one bit of advice what would it be?

Plan ahead and don’t procrastinate.

Which one are you- Early riser or night owl?!

I’m 100% a night owl. I’ve never been a morning person, and now with 3 young children the evenings are especially precious. I often work late, finding the quiet of the night to be the best time to focus and work uninterrupted. With a podcast or an audiobook and the rumble of the sewing machine, its a peaceful way to work.

Thank you for joining us at the shoot! What was your inspiration for what you delivered on the day?

The moodboard provided an excellent starting point for the garments I made. I picked out cool tones to suit a romantic winter theme, and the texture of the Tweed fabric brings a rustic feel to the outfit to compliment the style of the venue.

We loved that Jade had matched the models suit perfectly, and the tie really complimented the flowers which brought all of the pieces together. It was amazing to have Jade on hand to help make sure our groom looked perfect!

What’s your most popular item or package?

My most popular item is my Tweed ties and bow ties, embroidered with a message for the wedding day. Many couples choose to add their wedding date or the groomsmens’ initials, but we’ve also had some funny nicknames and secret messages!

Where do you see your business in the future?

I’m looking forward to working on more weddings in the future, and to more collaborations with other wonderful businesses and creatives. I’m in the process of moving the workroom out of my house into a new premises which is an exciting step. A long term dream is a brick and mortar shop, with a window to dress!

What are you working on at the minute?

It’s a strange time, with many weddings postponed. I’m continuing to work on orders placed for weddings in winter 2020 onwards. I also have a range of luxury Tweed home accessories, which is keeping me busy.

If a couple like your style how do they get in touch?

The easiest way to contact me is via

facebook @tweedfiend

or instagram @tweedfiend_

and if you want to see examples of my previous work there’s a gallery on my website Tweedfiend.com

Once a couple has found you what can they expect from the process from first getting in touch through to their wedding day?

I offer a truly bespoke service. I start by getting a clear idea of your goals for your wedding, including themes and colours. Then I compile a range of fabric options from weavers and mills around the UK to find the best match. Once fabric is selected, we will complete the design process, choosing style options and finer details. Fittings ensure your garments will be tailored to perfection so you and your groomsmen look and feel your best on the big day.

What’s your best advice to couples planning their wedding?

Don’t let the wedding planning take over, remember to still do things just to enjoy being together.
